52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks: #42 Robert Fields

This is my forty-second posting for the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge

Robert Fields was, as far as can be determined, the father of Jane Fields. He would be my great-great-great grandfather. In the 1851 census, Jane's place of birth is given as Marton Lordship (North Riding, Yorkshire). This place is also known as Marton cum Mosby. It is in Marton cum Mosby that Robert, wife Elizabeth and six children that the family is enumerated in the 1841 census.

Robert's age is given as 40 years old in the 1841 census. In the 1841 census, people over the age of 15 are rounded down to the nearest five. So Robert could have been anywhere between 40 and 44 years old. Robert worked as an agricultural labourer.

Ten years later, Robert aged about 54, born in Marton cum Mosby, Elizabeth born in Bishop Monkton, aged 56 are living in Marton cum Mosby. With them are their son, William, aged 11, and their granddaughter, Hannah Fields.

It looks like this would be Robert's death registration Deaths Mar 1868 FIELDS Robert 72 Easingwold  volume 9d page 223
